HSSC Opportunities

Thanks to all the knowledge, skills and experience you’ll gain in college, you’ll be able to adapt to a greater variety of jobs and careers. Statistics show that a college diploma can help you:

  • Get a job
  • Keep a job
  • Make more money

College work will challenge and inspire you. In college, you will:

  • Explore subjects in greater depth than you did in high school
  • Choose your own courses and class schedule
  • Decide which extracurricular activities you’ll focus on – and how much time you’ll give them

College helps students develop into mature, responsible and independent adults. But you’re not entirely on your own: colleges offer students many kinds of help making this transition, such as tutoring as well as counseling and other support.

Curriculum

Syllabus Structure

Based on the National Curriculum of Pakistan, AKU-EB’s HSSC syllabuses ensure that they cater to the demands of the 21 century education and emphasize on both applied and conceptual learning.

AKU-EB’s Grade XI and XII syllabuses, offered both in English and Urdu, provide a set of specific Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) which specify what a student is expected to learn in a particular subject. These SLOs summarise the knowledge and understanding essential for all students to succeed during and beyond their classrooms.

Examination Method

AKU-EB’s Higher Secondary School Certificate was introduced in 2007 and have been in full implementation since 2008. The Certificate offers an excellent progression to university studies and professional life with a wide range of subject areas.

Program Structure

An HSSC candidate is assessed in the same way as the SSC candidate with students sitting for examinations at the end of each grade i.e. Grade XI and XII. The Certificate is, however, awarded to students at the end of Grade XII.

AKU-EB’s secondary and higher secondary qualifications can be offered individually by schools, however, a growing number of schools offer them as part of a continuum to other AKU-EB qualifications such as SSC, and Middle School Assessment Framework.

Group Options

To support the needs, interests and aspirations of students, AKU-EB provides a choice of 39 subjects in different groups such as Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Commerce, and Science General.
