Campus Tour

Habib Public School is spread over nearly 18 acres of land in the center of the Karachi metropolis. Our students enjoy two swimming pools, two hockey fields, a general use sports ground, and an auditorium cum gymnasium (with a capacity for over 1000 seats). The school campus is also home to spacious classrooms, labs, libraries, and projection rooms to name a few of our facilities. We are currently renovating the library and the secondary laboratories to maintain top international standards. HPS is committed to providing only the highest quality facilities to all of its students. To visit our campus please Sign up here

Auditorium

The auditorium at HPS, built in 1962, can accommodate up to 200 people. It is frequently used for indoor school events and capacity building sessions for both students and teachers. The back wall of the stage doubles as a projection screen. Our auditorium equipment also includes a complete multimedia setup.

Science Labs

Habib Public School is proud to boast several state-of-the-art science laboratories. The secondary section has separate labs each for physics, chemistry, and biology. These labs are always kept organised and well-stocked according to the Board Curriculum and ensure students get the hands-on experience needed to experiment and expand their practical knowledge of the sciences. The junior section science lab is equipped with all the material needed for basic science experiments. They also have a multimedia system to aid teaching and for viewing demonstrations. Students are always supervised and guided by qualified professionals in the lab to minimise any safety risks.

Gymnasium

The school gymnasium is furnished with 13,000 sq feet of wooden flooring for international level basketball games. Its bleachers can accommodate a maximum capacity of 1000 people. It is open to students from 8 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday. The gym is the main premises for various indoor sports activities on campus. Sports instructors are available full-time to any student who is interested in extra coaching. Yearly concerts, plays and graduation ceremonies are held on the sprawling 40 meter stage. The entire gymnasium is equipped with high quality lighting and audio facilities to accommodate major school events.

Computer Labs

Primary and secondary school students have access to five fully equipped computer labs. No 21st-century schooling is complete without computer and technological literacy and HPS encourages the use of technology to cement students’ learning. Students are often given web-based research assignments and projectors are commonly used for demonstration and instruction. In the computer lab, students are taught how to develop a variety of computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet usage, graphical development and coding.

Sports Grounds

Sports are a key part of learning at HPS. With wide play areas and several sports grounds, students have plenty of opportunities to play and stay physically fit and active. Inter- and intra-school competitions are a constant part of life at HPS to maintain a constant environment of team spirit and healthy competition. The school frequently hosts throw-ball, netball, volleyball, hockey, and athletics tournaments throughout the year. We are proud to say that finalists in these competitions frequently qualify and participate in national competitions!

Art Room

Our art room accommodates up to 30 students at a single art table. Purpose-built art rooms allow students to channel their creativity and artistic expression through painting, drawing, and sculpting, to name a few. Artistic expression is extremely good for a child’s mental wellbeing, and in expanding their creative thinking processes. It has been shown to develop their critical thinking abilities in more logical fields such as the sciences. To develop one is to develop the other!

Swimming Pool

HPS has two swimming pools available to students (one for junior school and one for senior school). Our pools are equipped with the latest filtration technologies to keep pools in top shape throughout the year and to ensure pool hygiene. Qualified and experienced swimming coaches have been supervising and training our students for the past 60 years. We pride ourselves in making every student a swimmer by the time he completes class 3.

Libraries

Both students and faculty alike are encouraged to make use of the well-stocked library facilities on campus. All students have allotted library periods where they are encouraged to read a wide range of material to expand their intellectual horizons. Library staff keep the premises organised and up-to-date, and make sure that library resources support students’ academic learning. Our library resources include a wide selection of encyclopedias, reference books, fiction and non-fiction materials, biographies, technical resources, magazines, and more! Computer and internet facilities are also available to all students and faculty.

Student Clinic

Basic first aid is available at our school clinic where a full-time general physician presides. The doctor overlooks regular student health screenings and maintains records of each child’s development. A check is kept on the spread of common school infections or diseases, including the flu, mumps, and chickenpox to name a few. The school physician is also responsible for raising health awareness workshops to keep students informed on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Our History

HPS has a long and rich history,
scroll through to see key moments that define us

Early 1950s

Habib Public School is the realisation of a dream. When the four sons of Habib Ismail(banker, philanthropist and visionary) migrated to Pakistan they realized the need for good quality schools established and managed by the Muslim community. Their goal was to provide quality education to all without discrimination. High-standard teaching and learning facilities at subsidised rates has been the guiding light for HPS since its very creation.

July 7th, 1959

Habib Public School’s humble beginnings were in just 4 blocks of buildings: Ahmed House, Ghulam Ali House, Dawood House, and Sharif House. These were run by the school’s first administrator, the late Mr. Yousuf Qasim, who overlooked admissions, staff appointments, and construction work as the school steadily expanded and grew.

1959-1963

In the school’s early years, there was a real emphasis on developing Habib Public School’s academic credentials as well as its sports facilities. HPS’s pioneering staff members have always believed that academic achievement and physical education were closely linked together. Values like teamwork, resilience, patience, and respect were instilled into children’s psyche on the playing field and would contribute to developing them into excellent citizens of tomorrow.

1963

In 4 short years, HPS grew into one of the most high-profile academic institutions of Karachi. Soon, the city’s elite were flocking to HPS for their children’s educational needs.

1960s

Habib Public School started out with just 3 admissions on its first day in 1959, but in a single year the school was filled to capacity with students, despite the marshy and somewhat isolated geography of the area. There were no easily accessible public transport facilities in the region at the time, and many children had to walk from as far as Saddar or Cantt Station to get to school.

1963-1978

There was a surge in land reclamation projects to expand the school and its facilities. In these 15 years, HPS developed a second hockey field, a swimming pool, an auditorium, high quality physics and chemistry labs, and expanded the number of classrooms available to students.

1980s

In 1980, HPS introduced the Cambridge qualification system to ensure its students had the best education possible available to them.

2000 onwards

The founding ethos of quality education for all has remained at the heart of the school throughout its growth. Our student population has continued to be reflective of the diversity in our wider society. The school has strived to create a level playing field for all its students, regardless of backgrounds, to ensure endless possibilities for each one.

2021

Financial aid has always been readily available to any and all who needed it, to ensure that the school did not become a school that was limited to the elite classes alone. Our financial aid goes into fee concessions, stationery benefits, and uniform provisions for any students who need financial aid. At Habib Public School, we truly believe in the transformative power of a quality education, and making such an education accessible to all is one of our highest values.
